whole grain.

this general mills ad for multigrain cheerios is outrageous.  making money on the public’s ignorance of whole grains is repulsive.  they’re also disseminating information that is not helpful, wrong, and perpetuates the epidemic of unhealthiness in this country.  A CHEERIO IS NOT A WHOLE GRAIN.  even if it’s a multigrain cheerio.

one of these is not like the others:

what’s worse, the madness and misinformation continues on their website.

the best tip for “increasing whole grains” in your diet is to eat actual whole grains.  eating something that is made with whole grain is not the same as eating the whole grain.

and with refined, processed food, it’s important to look at the ingredients.  it may also be important to ask if you think general mills would let you know if they were using genetically modified corn.  and lightly sweetened?  not when sugar is the 3rd ingredient.

a whole grain is just a whole grain.  people have been eating them for millenia, since before the word vitamin was invented.
