on the corner of houston and elizabeth.

there was this cute cafe on the corner of houston and elizabeth.  it closed, and a clothing store opened up.  rag & bone paid homage to cafe colonial with a painted message on the wall recognizing it as a neighborhood landmark.

someone painted “AFRICA” in cerulean blue below the homage.  then someone wrote “fuck” above africa in lead.  i noticed it one day walking to the store from broadway lafeyette.  i though it was kind of fucked up.  weeks later i noticed someone wrote “Love” covering the “fuck”.  nice.

as all things must pass, rag & bone is establishing its presence on the corner of houston and elizabeth, new art on the side of the building emerges.

this is one of the things i love about ny.  constant change.  none of it is good or bad, it all just is.  there.  to do whatever you want with it.  keeps your mind, body, and soul active.
